The National Coalition on Caribbean
Affairs (NCOCA) was founded in 1997 to address issues
impacting Caribbean communities within the United States of
America and in the Caribbean region.
NCOCA is a realization of the need for new, cohesive strategies
to address a variety of challenges that impact peoples of
the Caribbean at home and in the USA, and the realization
that there needs to be a strong, unified Caribbean entity
that can, among other things: Promote Caribbean interests
in legislative matters; provide the Caribbean community with
a constant flow of information on issues important to its
welfare; and galvanize the community to participate fully
in civic matters at the local, state and national levels.
The NCOCA logo depicts the Caribbean
represented by the sun and the sea within the universal circle
of life. The Ghanaian Adinkra symbol meaning "intelligence
and strategy" is centered within the sun to form the
iris of the eye which keeps vigilant watch over all "Caribbean
Affairs"
